A 2023 Global Fund to End Modern Slavery study revealed shocking abuse rates among African migrants in Gulf Cooperation Council states: 99% of Kenyans reported employer abuse, while 89% of Ugandans experienced human trafficking-like conditions, with over 25% facing severe exploitation. Despite the prevalence of such violations against African migrants worldwide, there's a lack of organized documentation specifically highlighting these issues.

Diaspora Africa argues this absence hinders effective advocacy and information dissemination on migration issues. To address this, a database is being created to record migration trends and violations against Africans globally, categorized by country and frequency, starting from 2016. This documentation aims to provide evidence for advocacy and engage policymakers on migration-related decisions.

The media organization serves as a catalyst for migration reporting and advocacy while offering tools, platforms, and opportunities to empower African migrants everywhere, utilizing digital media to hold governments and policymakers accountable for their commitments. Diaspora Africa is committed to producing migration related content free from uninformed and discriminatory rhetoric. We are interested in establishing a widely accessible resource center for documenting migration issues that affect Africans.
